Esports, AKA Electronic Sports, describes the world of competitive, organized video gaming. Esports often take the form of organized, multiplayer video game competitions played individually or as teams. From amateur to the professional level, esports has exploded in popularity over the last decade.
Esports provides amazing opportunities for kids to interact and socialize in ways that can foster leadership and problem-solving skills by working through adversity and achieving goals as a team. Studies have also shown that video games can help improve cognitive skills, attention, focus, spatial reasoning, visual processing, and enhanced mental rotation abilities. Esports is an opportunity to bring kids together in a non-traditional competitive setting that can have many of the same physical, emotional, and mental benefits as traditional athletics.
